ArcticHubs: 4th Annual Meeting
The fourth annual meeting of the ArcticHubs project was held in the heart of the Geopark, in Alagna Valsesia (VC), from 19 to 22 September 2023.
The Arctichubs project is a Horizon 2020 project funded by the European Union, which focuses on climate change adaptation and the sustainable development of local communities, primarily those linked to the Arctic and Alpine environments.
The event, which welcomed participants from various parts of Europe, provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships and partnerships among the project members.
During the meeting, numerous workshops and small-group sessions were held, focusing on issues and new strategies relating to climate change and sustainable development, but there was also an opportunity to discover the beauty of the Sesia Val Grande UNESCO Global Geopark. In fact, two excursions took place within the area: one to the Sacro Monte di Varallo (Thursday 21st) and the other to the Pianalunga plateau in the Monte Rosa Massif (Friday 22nd), as well as a visit to the local Walser Museum in Alagna.
The organisation of the 4th annual ArcticHubs meeting was made possible above all thanks to the local organisers, who went out of their way to ensure the event was a convivial occasion.
