EGN2022 Geofair: Celebrating Geodiversity, Enhancing Geoheritage, Promoting Geotourism
During the EGN2022 European Conference of UNESCO Geoparks, held at the Sesia Val Grande UNESCO Geopark (Piedmont, Italy), a ‘fair’ was organised (“geofair”, held at Villa Simonetta, an exhibition space in Verbania) where European geoparks presented themselves to the general public and schools, featuring in-person sessions, videos, educational materials and local products. As part of this event, an exhibition was organised featuring multimedia content dedicated to the themes of geodiversity, geological heritage, geosciences and education, and tourism, sustainable development, featuring illustrative materials and videos on the Sesia Val Grande UNESCO Global Geopark, Italian geoparks and various European geoparks. A veritable “window onto the world of geoparks”.

Description of objectives: To foster dialogue between researchers, Geopark managers, local authorities, entrepreneurs, the general public and students on various topics: Geodiversity and geological heritage; Geoparks and the ecological transition; Geosciences: education and public engagement; Geotourism and best practice; Risks, resilience and opportunities in Geoparks communities; Geoparks in the digital age: data management and communication; Sustainable heritage: products and cultures in Geoparks.
