Happy birthday, Parco... with the magazine 'Meridiani Montagne'!
The Val Grande National Park was established 25 years ago: two events to mark the occasion
On2 March 1992, theVal Grande National Park was established by a decree of the Ministry of the Environment.
How should we celebrate this anniversary?Massimo Bocci, the Park Authority’s Chairman, tells us: “The Park is turning 25,” writes the President, “and to mark the occasion, the magazine‘Meridiani Montagne’ has published a special issue dedicated to the Val Grande – a project strongly supported by the Park – which has been on newsstands for a few days now. It is a wonderful issue that tells the story not only of the places but also of the people. The environment, the local area, sustainable development and nature are the guiding principles on which we are working, and we also believe they are the way forward for the development of the region. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has made the publication of this 133-page issue – complete with an attached trail map – possible. A special thank you – Bocci continues and concludes – tothe Laghi Tourist Districtand thelocalcouncilswithin the Parkfor their invaluable support. We look forward to seeing you all on 9 March at the Casa della Resistenza in Fondotoce to experience ‘our’ Val Grande together with Marco Albino Ferrari and Teresio Valsesia.”
The magazine‘Meridiani Montagne’ has been on sale at newsagents throughout Italy since last Tuesday andwill also be launched in Milan on Wednesday 8 March at 9.15 pmat Spazio Oberdan with a special event featuring the monograph *Val Grande*, but that’s not all: it will be a storytelling performance led by the magazine’s editor, Marco Albino Ferrari. Meanwhile,on Thursday 9 March in Verbania Fondotoce, the second event in the ‘Meridiani Montagne’ series will be held, dedicated to the Park’s 25th anniversary. The event takes place at 8.30 pm at the Casa della Resistenza, featuring talks by Oreste Pastore, director of the Lakes Tourist District; Massimo Bocci, president of the Park; Marco Albino Ferrari, editor of the magazine; and Teresio Valsesia, writer. The event will be moderated by Lorenzo Scandroglio, a journalist. The documentary “Terre di Mezzo. Val Grande National Park” by Marco Tessaro will be screened on this occasion. Admission is free.
