Living Stones: The Language of Rocks from the Celts to the Present Day

On Sunday22 March 2026 at 3.00 pm, at theGeological Laboratory of the Sesia Val Grande Geopark, a talkentitled ‘Living Stones: the language of rocks from the Celts to the present day’ will be held, led by geologistFrancesco Sfratato.

The initiative forms part of theEostre Celtic Festivalprogramme and offers an in-depth exploration of the relationship between humankind and stone throughout history, with a particular focus on Celtic culture and the evolution of this bond right up to the present day.

The event will be divided into two main parts:

  • An informative talk focusing on the geological and historical analysis of the use of stone in ancient civilisations.
  • A hands-on workshop, during which participants will be able to gain first-hand experience of working with and handling the different types of rock covered in the seminar.

To ensure the quality of the experience and encourage dialogue with the speaker,attendance is limited to a maximum of 20 people.
