“Percorsi Trasversali” – an exhibition spread across the historic centre of Mergozzo

The historic centre of Mergozzo is hosting the open-air exhibition ‘Percorsi trasversali’, organised to mark the tenth anniversary of the Granite Ecomuseum.

The exhibition, dedicated to the theme ‘The Eternal and the Ephemeral: Stone and Wood”, winds its way through various areas of the town, including the lakeside promenade, the museum and Via del Sasso, which will be transformed into an ‘open-air’ art gallery for the period from 20 July to 31 August 2017.

The exhibition features around fifteen artists who work with wood and stone; their works are intended to make the narrow streets of Mergozzo’s historic centre – a town within the Geopark – even more evocative, inviting visitors to discover its historical and artistic features.

Some works will always be on display, but the full exhibition can be viewed during the scheduled opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday, from 3 pm to 6 pm, and on Saturdays also from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

The event is organised in collaboration with the local council, the Mergozzo Pro Loco and the Mergozzo Archaeological Group, and forms part of the network-wide programme ‘La pietra racconta’ (The Stone Tells Its Story), developed in partnership with the Granum Museum and the Municipality of Baveno, which has received funding from the VCO Community Foundation.

Every Thursday in July and August at 5.00 pm, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition, led by some of the exhibiting artists. The guided tours start from the Museum and are available in Italian and English.

On Sunday 27 August at 9.00 pm, the historic centre will come alive with a concert dedicated to stone, featuring Vic Vergeat and his marble guitar.

Sunday 27 August at 9.00 pm – Piazza Marconi: ‘Marmoree vibrazioni’ concert featuring Vic Vergeat on the marble guitar and Mar Tina on vocals. Special evening opening from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm
