Agnona

The rocks exposed at Agnona are the result of the mixing of different magmas as they rise from the deep crust towards the surface, at a depth of around 10 km. Here, in fact, magmas from the deep crust intrude into the upper crust.

Grey dioritic rocks, similar to those of the Basic Complex, are intermixed with lighter-coloured granitic magmas, derived from the partial melting of the crust.

Finally, pegmatites formed – veins of rock containing large crystals.
