Ara’s House of Caves
The “Casa delle Grotte di Ara” is a fully-fledged visitor centre for the entire Monte Fenera Natural Park area. The Visitor Centre is nestled within the picturesque natural setting of the Giardino delle Grotte, a veritable open-air museum teeming with karst formations, created by the action of the River Magiaiga.
On the ground floor, visitors can obtain information about the specific area and, more generally, about the entire Valsesia Parks region from the park staff, who are always on hand on opening days. The Park Authority distributes free information and educational material such as leaflets, brochures and guidebooks. There are also information panels on the flora, fauna and landscape of the Monte Fenera Nature Park.
The exhibition area, located on the upper floor of the building, enables visitors to learn about the geological history of Mount Fenera and its caves through information panels; there is also a small collection of rocks, as well as a specimen of a calcite column and a stalagmite.
