Isola di Vocca Mine

The Isola deposit lies within the Ivrea-Verbano Formation, where the valley’s other nickel mines are also situated. This mineralisation, in particular, consists mainly of pyroxenites and peridotites, the oxidation of which gives the rocks in the mine and the surrounding area a very vivid red colour (similar to the mines at Alpe Laghetto).

As with most of the mines in the Valsesia valley, entry is not recommended; access is impeded here by the presence of water at the bottom of the tunnel.
