The geosite features amphibolites from the Ivrea-Verbano area intercalated within kinzigites.

Amphibolites are formed by medium-to-high-grade metamorphism of basaltic rocks and consist mainly of plagioclase and hornblende, with a certain amount of clinopyroxene.
