Roccapietra
Near Roccapietra there is a granite quarry, which is now disused.
The origin of the rock is linked to the history of the supervolcano: as the magma deep within the crust began to cool, it transferred its heat to the rocks above it, causing some of them to melt. This process gave rise to further magma, originating from closer to the surface and with a different chemical composition, which, upon solidifying, formed the granites.
