The international ICDP-DIVE project in the Sesia Val Grande Geopark on Geologicamente

TheSesia Val Grande UNESCO Global Geoparkis at the heart of the international scientific projectICDP-DIVE, which was recently featured in the latest issue of*Geologicamente*, the journal of the Italian Geological Society.

The first phase of the project has already yieldedsignificant results, thanks to a successful scientific drilling operation in theIvrea-Verbano area. These studies have deepened our understanding ofthe continental Mohoand paved the way forthe DIVE 2 phase, which aims to integrate the study of the Earth’s deep structure with that ofsustainable georesources – both of which are fundamental to the energy transition.

The project is a significant example ofadvanced geological research within the Geopark, contributing to the scientific promotion of the local geological heritage and to the dissemination of knowledge at national and international level.
